Phoneobia? Yeah
Yes, I have a fear of phones. Answering and passing off I can do. Calling someone and having a conversation makes my stomach tie in knots like before a math test that you haven't studied for that's two years ahead of what your doing know. It's baddddddd. Ugh. Getting the heepy jeepies just thinkin' about it. And if your wonderin' why I'm announcing this fear I'll tell you. I had to call to confirm a meeting. I was creatin' excuses of why it would be okay if i were to wait a bit. So I did. And then a bit more. And a bit more. And what do I get? The ansering machine. And what do I say? I'll show you.
Answering machine say to leave a number to let the
caller call back press 5. Waits a bit then beeps.
My thoughts: Wait, should I leave my number,
she knows my number. I won't.
The phone's beep has sounded a bit ago and
know I recover enough to leave a message.
Me: Hi, just got my Dad's, um, parents, uh, got permission to
go with you. Oh, this is Deborah. Yeah,if you need
to call again for some reason you know the nember. Uh yeah, bye.
And if I haven't sounded stupid enough (not all the different tones of not
knowing what to say are represented here. Nor
is the mumblingness) i bet you can slightly hear me say...
Me: Boy, that sounded stupid.
And I sure do. Sheesh. I need phone therepy or something. Any phone conversations (outside of Amber) have never lasted long over five minutes. And the longest one? About a math probelm. And that didn't even last that long because it was the wrong homework pages. Bit sad ain't it? Least wise now you know why I never call.
